The Future is Female
"The Future is Female" might seem a bit odd in the context of the sports world, but not if you're talking about consumerism. According to industry statistics, 85% of sports-related purchases are either bought or controlled by women. So, how are sports brands re-calibrating themselves in order to appeal to the discriminating female and maintain their status and profits? Eira and Wendy #DistillIt! with special guest, Sarah Lassek, Sr. Director Merchandising, US Training adidas.
Is it Time to Pay Student Athletes?

Here we are enjoying the peak of NCAA March Madness, watching incredibly talented and hardworking student athletes earn their universities huge revenue, and still wondering why these student athletes don’t get paid more than a college education and a stipend to cover expenses. What are we missing? What would student athlete salaries look like? Eira and Wendy welcome new business correspondent, Arynton Hardy and discuss what athlete salaries might look like and how the business end of this would work.
The Body Mechanic

Many of us want our kids to play sports, but how many of us make sure that they learn proper body mechanics? Heck, how many of US know proper body mechanics?! It is crucial to ensure that kids are learning how to maneuver their bodies more effectively and efficiently, allowing them to properly control function AND prevent injuries. How? Eira and Wendy Distill It
with former pro soccer player and “Body Mechanic” to kids, Coach Carlos.
Sexual Abuse in Sports

This is a topic that is timely and cannot be ignored. Sexual abuse in sports has hit athletes - from amateurs to professionals - on and off the field. Even with some eventual wins, as seen with the conviction of Dr. Larry Nassar, the problem has left many female athletes scarred and fighting to move forward. Eira and Wendy speak with Rook Campbell, Professor of Communications at the University of Southern California, focuses on the politics, money, and culture of sport, and has seen first-hand the system that allows for this abuse to occur.
Free Styling It with Eira and Wendy
Like the skiers on the slopes of Pyeongchang, we are free-styling it on the show this week and boy do we have lots to talk about in the world of sports.
Going Pro Around the World

U.S. statistics of college athletes who make it to the domestic professional leagues is shockingly low. So, what are the opportunities for elite athletes to go pro overseas? And, what about foreign athletes who dream about making it on to an American pro team? The doors swing both ways with opportunities to enjoy success beyond one's own borders. Beyond Exercise: Improving Your Body's Lifetime Warranty

Athletes across the spectrum are constantly seeking ways to ensure that their bodies can perform for as long as possible. Staying injury free, or at least being able to recovery quickly, is crucial. Are there better ways than others to preserve your body? Eira and Wendy #DistillIt! with special guest and former competitive athlete Adrianne Spear, a body alignment specialist and founder of Knot So Much Muscle Therapy.
And the ruling is...up for debate

Suspensions, sanctions, ejections...these are all ways that athletes are held accountable for unsportsmanlike actions on and off the field. Seems like it would be simple...when an offense occurs, a sanction kicks in. Problem resolved. But, nowadays, it's just not that simple. Are athletes using the Players' Associations and appeals process to get out of having to pay the piper? Eira, Wendy and international sportscaster, Marshall Norbal distill this complicated topic.
The Sometimes Crazy World of Sports Fandom

Ahhh...being a sports fan. The highs and lows, the victories and defeats, the deep, deep connection we have with our teams. For many fans, the loss of a game can ruin an entire day or make a grown man cry....literally! And, of course, there are the costumes. What drives a fan to be so connected, so, well...fanatical? Eira and Wendy #DistillIt! on Universal Broadcasting Network and Facebook Live!
Women in Sports with Christine Plonsky

Cam Newton can't imagine that a woman understands receiver routes. Female athletes can't possibly be paid as much as their male counterparts. Female executives in the sports industry must be a fluke. Or, so they think! Female professionals in sports are frontierswomen, paving the way as more and more opportunities are created and more doors are opened for all women....despite the challenges. Eira and Wendy speak with very special guest Christine Plonsky, the Women's Athletics Director at the University of Texas at Austin.
To Kneel or Not to Kneel

The controversy continues and only gets more interesting: athletes using their sports platform to protest. Good intentions and passion on both sides seem to overshadow the basic, heartfelt reason for the protest in the first place. Even politicians...and now the Russians...are involved! What does this do to fans of the game? Eira and Wendy have a very lively debate including international sportscaster, Marshall Norbal live from London with an overseas perspective.
